Career Training Programs

The First Step

Enroll in the Adult Education office with a down payment of $100 to schedule a Work Keys assessment.  The test is offered Thursday evenings at 5:00 p.m. and is 2½ hours in length.  If a student fails to complete enrollment in a training program, the fee is nonrefundable.

All career training program students are required by the Board of Education of Ohio to take a general assessment called Work Keys.  This assessment enables the student to gauge his academic abilities relative to the selected training program.  If a student reflects help is needed in any area, Auburn offers assistance, free of charge, in our Life Long Learning Lab.  Test results do not exclude any student from the program; it is merely a tool for a more successful outcome. The only exception is our practical nursing program. For this program, Work Keys is the entrance examination and specific scores are required.

Please note students are responsible for tuition payment.  Pell Grant funds are received from the U.S. Department of Education in November and March. When a student’s Pell Grant funds are received by Auburn Career Center, the funds are applied to the student’s account balance.  If there is no existing balance, overpayments are refunded to the student.
