Sabrina Rahz was recently presented with the Young Professional Award from the Nursery Growers of Lake County during their annual banquet. Rahz is a 2018 alum of Auburn Career Center’s Plant, Turf and Landscape Management program.
This award is given to a young professional in recognition of outstanding service to the nursery industry in Lake County.
Sabrina was nominated by Mary Beth Miler, of Herman Losely & Son, Inc. “Sabrina’s amazing. She stood out from the start. I’m so proud of her and for what she’s become and how she’s progressed. It’s easy to have a great team when you have great people,” said Miller.
Dave Richards, Rahz’s high school Plant, Turf and Landscape Management instructor at Auburn, was in attendance when she received her award.
“I am so very proud of Sabrina. I talked to one of the executives at Petitti yesterday, and he referred to her as a ‘rock star.’ Sabrina has worked very hard and paid her dues along the way. I was totally impressed at her work when I visited the growing facility she is in charge of, exceptional quality and plant growth, said Richards.
Rahz, who works at Herman Losely & Son, Inc., stated “It was rewarding and exciting to feel appreciated for the work I’ve done. I’m excited for my future in the industry. Mr. Richards got me started in the field, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be where I am today. The people at Auburn have the best connections in the industry. Students should take advantage of that,” said Rahz.
