Auburn's Workforce Education Department offers a number of Fire Science Courses, including:
Firefighter I & 2
Firefighter 1 & 2 training program is designed to train students for an entry-level position into the fire service. This intense 300-hour program exceeds all ODPS requirements and includes the required Hazmat Operations and Awareness as well as Emergency Vehicle Operators Course. A student who has successfully completed the Firefighter 1 & 2 course is eligible to take the certification examination. This course is accredited by Ohio Department of Public Safety Site number 302 and Pro-Board. It is highly recommended that you take your EMS programs prior to this program as employment for just this certification is hard to find, All Firefighters in NE Ohio have Paramedic and this certification.

This class starts each year in March and August part time program meets two days a week from 1600 – 2200 and 6 pre-scheduled Saturdays for 8 hours each (enrollment due prior month).
There is a Summer Accelerated program that meets 5 days a week, 8 hours a day that starts every June (enrollment due the prior month).
This program is considered part time and is not eligible for Federal Financial aide by itself, this program is approved for VA funding.
Prerequisite REQUIRED before the start of class: AHA CPR and First Aid Card.
Preferred: ODPS EMS certification.
Certifications: 244 ODPS Firefighter Certification, 16 EVOC Course
