Public Safety Academy

firefighters fighting a fire

This program is designed to give you every advantage and head start to becoming a Firefighter Paramedic in Ohio. It covers Emergency Medical Technician, Anatomy & Physiology with Medical Terminology, EKG Technician and Firefighter 1 & 2 and prepares you to take the Ohio Department of Emergency Medical Services certification(s) and National Registry as well as prepares you to move into the Paramedic program after successful completion of the academy.

If your goal is to become a fulltime firefighter paramedic in Ohio, this is your jump-start into this career. After the first semester, upon completion of EMT, Auburn assists with job placement. This program has everything you need to start working a part-time, municipal fire department job.

The Public Safety Academy follows the existing EMT and Firefighting schedules. A&P and EKG tech are hybrid programs with the majority of work being done from the comfort of your home or office, you will only have to meet two times for required hands-on labs for each the A&P and EKG programs.

For specific questions about EMT or Firefighter 1 & 2, visit Auburn’s website or call Sean Davis at 440-358-8026.

This full-time program starts each year in March and August and always starts with EMT, A&P and EKG in the first Semester and Firefighter 1 & 2 in the second semester.

This program is considered full-time and is eligible for Federal Financial Aid and approved for VA funding.
